King Says Goodbye to Africa

By

The giant Africa map from National Geographic was packed up on Friday, Feb. 17 and sent to the next school.

“It was an honor to host this map on our campus for the past two weeks,” said Principal Jeff Wright.

Most of the history teachers took advantage of the African map while it was at King, and did a wide variety of class activities. Mr. Erik Young’s AP Geography class used the map to find what African countries gained their independence. Other classes put information about the ethnic groups on the map, tracked access to technology, and gross domestic product of selected countries.

“I think the map is a big step to exposing King students and staff to how Africa looks,” said Mr. Young.
